Jossette Velazquez, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Jossette was born and raised in the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota. Growing up, dogs were preferred in her family but during her visits to El Salvador, she observed her grandmother show unconditional affection to cats, sowing early seeds of love for our feline friends. She went on to earn her BS in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Molecular Biology at Minnesota State University-Moorhead with minors in Special Education and Biochemistry and Biotechnology. She graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2024. She is fluent in Spanish and plans to be fluent in other languages.
Jossette had already developed a long-lasting love for cats. However, at the beginning of her training, her plan after vet school was to work with cows, goats, sheep, and cats exclusively. This changed when she started her second year of vet school when her beautiful black cat and soul mate, Grymnn, became ill. Despite weekly clinic visits, it felt as if she and Grymnn were not being listened to. Being here at Uniquely Cats allows her to not only work with the best species but also honor Grymnn's memory by providing compassionate care to feline friends and their families.
Outside of work, Dr. Jossette enjoys reading with her three cats next to her, watching anime that mostly involves swords and magical powers, and hiking with her husband. Currently, she is exploring photography and embroidery and improving her proficiency in French and ASL. She lives with her husband, Austin, and their three cats- Yühnna, Sunni, and Grenndel.
