During our regular business hours, the medical staff and resources at Uniquely Cats^® Veterinary Center are available to help should your kitty require emergency care. If possible, please call us in advance so we can prepare for your arrival. We may refer critical care cases to facilities that can provide 24/7 hospitalization when needed.

When to Seek Emergency Care for Your Cat

You know your cat better than anyone else. The easiest answer as to whether you should seek emergency care for your cat is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait.

Here are a few more common reasons you might need to seek out emergency care:

Difficulty breathing Straining unsuccessfully to urinate Sudden onset abdominal swelling Electric shock Excessive vomiting or diarrhea Bleeding Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke (collapse, difficulty breathing, panting) Seizures

Sudden onset of weakness or inability to walk High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees) Discomfort, straining, or inability to urinate or defecate Pale or white gums Traumatic injuries Suspected poisoning If you suspect a serious problem or are uncomfortable waiting

This list is incomplete; many other problems may also need emergency care. If you are uncertain if your cat’s problem is an emergency and we are closed, we recommend that you have your kitty checked out at the ER.

After Hours Care

Medical emergencies for your beloved cat can, and often do, happen outside of normal business hours. In these cases, we recommend you visit the nearest 24/7 veterinary emergency hospital. Emergency services are provided at the following animal hospitals:
