Myth #1: "Cats Who Look Healthy ARE Healthy"
The Truth:
Cats are superb at hiding signs of illness
Cats are the World Champions of appearing healthy when they are not. This ability to hide symptoms of illness helps them survive in the wild, but puts them at risk in our homes.
Many cats don’t get regular veterinary care because, to our eyes, “they seem fine.” But cats evolved to hide signs of weakness. A surprising percentage of “perfectly OK” cats are developing chronic illnesses that could be treated or reversed if detected by a knowledgeable feline veterinarian. Commonly hidden diseases include Inflammatory Bowel Disease, rotten or broken teeth, arthritis, cancers, kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, and dozens more.
Early detection and treatment can prevent needless suffering, and may even save your cat’s life.
