Weruva Avian Flu Statement
January 7, 2025 — We only source ingredients from approved suppliers who meet the rigorous standards set by governing bodies such as the EU. In fact, the ingredients we use, including meat, are the same as those found in human food facilities. Our cooking processes are also closely monitored to ensure compliance with the high standards set by the BRC.
All of our products are fully cooked. We only work with preapproved and reputable suppliers that abide by our strict standards.
The way our foods are cooked is: the ingredients are first cooked, and the cooked food along with other ingredients are then put into the can where they are hermetically sealed. The next step is retort processing, which is a food preservation technique that involves heating food in a sealed container to destroy microorganisms and bacteria. The food is heated to temperatures of up to 250°F for several minutes under high pressure. The container must be able to withstand the high temperatures and pressure.
Additionally, there have been no reported cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza on or near any of our supplier farms.
