Shine Pet Food Avian Flu Update

February 2025 — There is a lack of collective information on the part of the CDC necessary to properly track the spread of the HPAIA/H5N1 (bird flu) virus. This greatly hinders our ability to advise our customers on the actual incidence of this disease.
Therefore, we recommend exercising an abundance of caution with any protein, other than salmon or rockfish.
In the face of this virus being active and likely spreading, we recommend feeding our gently cooked recipes for dogs, or cooking the raw dog food to an internal temp of 165 degrees.
We recommend cooking the cat food from Lot 715 back. Moving forward, we will be cooking the proteins in the cat food. Cooking the food to an internal temp of 165 degrees destroys bacteria. Beginning on Feb 24, Lot 716, we will be cooking the protein in all cat food recipes until the bird flu spread has been resolved.
Cooking works well in the oven or on the stovetop. A simple meat thermometer easily measures the temp. If you don’t have one, they are available in Santa Fe at Chef link, most major department stores, or online.
We apologize for the inconvenience. At Shine Pet Food, we will always prioritize the health and well-being of our customers and pets, for whom we have the honor to provide superior nutrition.
Sincerely,
Shine Pet Food
